Creating warmth with metal finishes.

Stainless steel kitchens don’t need to be cold and sterile. A style borrowed from professional restaurants can create a simple and timeless appearance that is both calming and unexpected when paired with the right amount of warmth and character.

Do not go all modern. I think smooth surfaces and strong lines work best when mixed with the opposite. I’d include organic shapes, warm wood, and upholstered furniture to provide the necessary patina to keep your space inviting—somewhere you’d want to linger with a bottle glass of wine and your favourite dinner guests.

Remember this is a reflective surface. If your walls are blue or a cool white, your counters will look cold. Whether light or dark, use a paint that fills the room with natural warmth, like this.

No clutter. In my opinion this is always a good rule all of the time, but especially important here. Silver, chrome, and steel are bold choices. Metal finishes can work in a big, open room or city apartment-sized galley kitchen, but if you’re incorporating them into your home, give them space to shine.
